Supersonic postponed last year is now rescheduled as 2-day festival on September 18th(sat) and 19th(sun) with anti-Covid measures keeping all attendees, artists and staff safe. We are aiming to host this Supersonic as the very first international music festival in Japan this year of 2021 with the artists from overseas.
Considering the on-going COVID circumstances, we have to scale it down to a 2-day festival and less # of artists. But we’ll keep working to bring those artists who cannot make it to this year’s Supersonice for other occasions.
Regarding Tickets, those who have the 1-day tickets from last year can still use them for the applicable dates. And for those who have the 3-day tickets from last year or those who cannot make it this year, refund information will be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, due to several changes in the site planning to accommodate the safety environemnt, we have to give up Platinum ticket features and for those who have the Platinum tickets from last year, please proceed the refund process. We appreciate your kind understanding.
Last year, we have received huge support and cheers from many fans through crowdfunding and Summer Sonic Benefit Streaming. To repay your kindness, all of our staff members are bracing ourselves for the festival preparation.
Supersonic Festival sites are outdoor in both cities. To do this event, we will have to ask for your kind understanding and corporation on the new rules and restrictions. We cannot build a safe environment without a help from each of you. Let’s work together and win back our everyday life with music festivals.
Artist lineup will be announced soon. Please wait for the updates.
It’s been over a year since we lost all opportunities to see live performance of artists/bands from overseas.
The history of live entertainment which had been built and continued since The Beatles’ visit to Japan in 1966 got shut down all of a sudden due to COVID and now it almost feels like “ Yogaku Tengoku (International Music Heaven) Era is gone and such a long time ago. But to change that, last December 10 Promoters of international music have gathered and been having a series of discussions since then. We managed to convince J-LODlive, who provides financial support for Japanese artists/bands’shows cancelled/postponsed by the Covid pandemic, to expand the support to us, international music promoters. Now our next focus is to prepare the enviroment where we can have artists/bands travel to Japan safely and provide live shows for fans, artists, staff, and everyone involved. Sports and Theater organizations worked well with the authorities and we have already witnessed some successful cases. We’re officially united as“IPAJ (Internatioanl Promoters Alliance Japan), as a part of APAC (All Japan Concert & Live Entertainment Promoters Conference), and are moving forward working with the auhorities on the safe guidelines to achieve this goal after the Olympics.
And now, we’re proud to announce Supersonic to be held this September after its unfortunate postponent in 2020. Considering the current situation, we’ll have to scale down and give up some of the artists from the last year’s lineup sadly, but still it’s going to be a great lineup. Most of the artists are from UK and US where the vaccination program is proceeding quite well. So eveyone including their crew will complete vaccination before traveling to Japan. With a future success of the Tokyo Olympics, they are all very excited to perform in Japan. Big festivals have been announced and sold out in Europe and US, and from Japan Supersonic is going to be next. If these music festivals thoughout the world connect as one big stream and each ends sccessfully, it’ll open a new chapter in the history and we’d love you to be the witness of it!
Yet we’re still under the state of emergency and limited inbound/outbound travels, all of our staff will do our best to provide a great outdoor festival experience in the safe & secure environment and will continue working closely with Chiba/Osaka authorities on the capacity and countermeasures against COVID until September. For all music fans waiting over the year, longing to attend this year on site or even online from both in and outside Japan, we will make the continuous effort and keep us connected with the world through the music. And when we finally made it, let’s tell the world how much Japanese music fans are enjoying the live performance! Your support is the crucial to the success of Supersonic!
Thank you to everyone, who is working to keep us safe.
